CHECK: Is it allowed for a Muslim female to live away from her family for university, work, trips etc?

Table of Contents

In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent and Merciful.

For a woman to travel on her own over the distance of 92km is an enormity and should not be done. Even at a shorter distance if there is a risk to her or that she will be exposed then again it is not allowed. If she has to travel to study she should have a Mahram (guardian) with her.

If this is not possible then a group may travel if it is in a confined conveyance where they will be safe and the need is a necessity. (this is for short distances). A girl cannot live on her own without a guardian away from her own city. Even an important obligation such as Hajj cannot be performed without a guardian.

Of course Allah knows best.
