HOW MANY LEVElS WILL THERE BE TO HEAVEN?

Table of Contents

In the name of Allah the most Beneficent and Merciful.

There is no specific mention to the exact amount of levels for paradise but there are many hundreds. For example, when referring to the levels for a Martyr the following Hadith has been narrated by Al Bukhari in his Sahih from Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) who related that the Messenger of Allah said;

“Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, offers prayer perfectly and fasts the month of Ramadhan, will be granted paradise as of right by Allah, no matter whether he fights in Allah`s cause or remains in the land where he is born.” The people said “O Messenger of Allah shall we acquaint the people with this good news?” He said “Paradise has one hundred levels which Allah has reserved for the Mujahideen who fight in His cause, and the distance between each of the two grades is like the distance between the heavens and the earth. So when you ask Allah for something, ask for `Al Firdaus`, which is the best and the highest part of paradise” I (the narrator) think he said “Above it (al Firdaus) is the throne of the most Merciful, and from it originates the rivers of paradise”. (Sahih Al Bukhari Kitabul Jihad)

The highest position in Paradise will be attained only by the beloved Prophet of Allah `Muhammad` May Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Imam Ibn Kathir says

“The highest position in paradise was mentioned. It is Al Wasilah, which is the position of the Messenger of Allah” (An Nihayah)

The Messenger of Allah also said as related by Abu Hurairah,

“Al Wasilah is a rank above which there is no other in the sight of Allah. Ask Allah to grant me Al Wasilah (in the prayer after Adhan)” (Musnad of Imam Ahmad)

Of course Allah knows best.
